retrato Phil copiaPhilippe Reuter, founder and director of Azimut 360

Philippe Reuter, who arrived in Chile 30 years ago, made a profession from his childhood passion for mountaineering and outdoor activities.

Ask him what his favorite playground is and we will surely answer that the mountains which he sees from his house in Patagonia. “… The Patagonia Icecap is one of the most awe-inspiring places on earth. Unlike many mountains in the world, this is a pristine and untouched land.”

Philippe, who is French by birth and Chilean by adoption, knows the Andes like the back of his hand. In 1992, he earns two Guiness records: one for skiing down the 10 highest volcanos on earth and another for kayaking on Licancabur’s (5900m) high altitude lake. In 2001, he summits Mt Everest (8 848m) together with some of Azimut’s top guides; in 2003, he breaks his own record when he kayaks in the crater of Pili volcano while a member of the Azimut teams dives at the same time. In 2006, with the logistical support of his Terra Luna lodge, he organizes the first commercial expedition to Mt San Valentin (4 058m).

In 1990, he founds AZIMUT 360, a name suggested by the panorama one sees from the summit of a mountain.
